Friendly Rich Tour Blog
Follow Friendly Rich & The Lollipop People as they saunter the German countryside promoting their new CD The Sacred Prune of Remembrance. This is the band’s third tour of Europe, supported by Hazelwood Records in Frankfurt. They will be reunited with their Hungarian counterparts, The Great Bertholinis, along with many other strange characters. They will promise to photograph all of the MEAT they eat for breakfast (fleischsalat), lunch (Gusticus sausage) and dinner (chile con carna).
Anthropology at its finest.

Tonight we perform our last concert of the German tour at the Waggonhalle in Offenbach. It’s an art project by the Offenbach art college somehow related to the German artist Joseph Beuys.

Awesome club named the Sonderbar in Cobourg. Charming little town where we unleashed a new German folk song ERNA CHAPUTSKI that we lifted from a karaoke bar in Halle…
Here’s Rich hanging out with Ollie:

It’s raining in the Black Forest and we’re staying with an old German couple on a cliff.
We had a day off today, and spent the most of it eating a Traditional Cobourg Sunday lunch (duck with two potato balls).
Here’s a photo from Ollie’s flat:

We are being hosted a true gentleman named Ollie. He won’t tell me the name of the river that runs through his backyard, he keeps referring to it as the IT’S. Balls!
So much meat. This morning I ate my first hit of fleischsalat on bread. Lovely. Germany, sweet Germany.

We were in a town called Neu Tramm the other day (I think that translates to New Car in English) and he recognized the Renaldo & the Loaf song we cover.
He was originally living in Scotland and moved to Germany about 20 years ago. Nice guy…named WALL.

Tonight we will play ping pong with the Great Bertholinis (rematch from last yar) in Erfurt after we perform at the famous Stadtgarten (famous for its ping pong arena).
We saw an Erfurt street goat on our way into town…classy.
Eating lots of Gusticus.
